it looks like a “moonscape” covered
in grass, with its many bomb and shell craters.
It
was taken on D-Day by the American Rangers,
with the aim of capturing the guns which threatend
the landing beaches of Utah and Omaha.
The guns were not there. Only telegraph poles.
The guns were in a field further inland.
