Sitting
on a rocky crag above the Conwy river - this
castle was also started in 1283 by Edward I
and completed in 1289.
It was a key fortress in the “Iron Ring“
of castles built to contain the Welsh.
As with Caernarfon, Conwy is also a walled town,
with walls some three quarters of a mile long
and guarded by 22 towers.
